Children's Mural Project 

Completed December 2020, a three year project using only volunteers.  The majority of volunteers had little or no experience, but were assessed for their style and preferences and put to work on the mural layers.  Most of the workers were continually assessed while working on the base colors and stonework to create a visual city.  Those who had the time and skills developing continued on to more complicated scenes as their time and desires allowed.  Meanwhile, Kenna Boles Prior and Casey Parrott, lead artist continued their own work on the mural. 

The project boasted of more than 30 volunteers, more than 300 linear feet, over 3000 square feet of one continuous city scene, with evidence of life including man made objects reflecting various skills and craftsmen of an old city, plants and creatures, and every detail time and skill could afford.

Kenna was responsible for the project scope from research and design, set up, volunteer management, supplies and tools, and ongoing assessments.  She was assisted by Casey in the layout and color theory and then addtional research done by others to verify both validity and details of certain elements.

The project stopped occassionally for short breaks, health issues, babies being born, and finally covid, but artists always returned back with dedication and perserverence to complete the task.  Ending with a reception, candlelight tour in December of 2020, the project had created a complete city scape filled with elements for teaching, history, and pleasure including elements for all ages to appreciate and a few hidden for future discovery.
