It is very common for people to believe that evil is identifiable as visual or even as ugly, when the truth it is most commonly a wolf in sheeps clothing.
Taking on the common issues of overlooking the persons of trust, I create compositions of what is commonly normal and familiar elements of comfort, paired with the severity of child abuse and the subtleties we easily ignore allowing the continuance.
Steamroller Events
The nature of steamroller events are just as much about community as the process of printing woodblocks themselves.
It is usually set up as various teams in an assembly line, opposite of the woodcut process alone. There will be block movers, inkers, paper handlers, steamroller drivers, etc. These teams set about a method with continuity to move through all the blocks gathered - by local artists, ultimately using an industrial roller to print oversized blocks.
These events are similar to a rehearsed performance and end with prints altered by the various hands who have helped and the act of nature that often leaves traces somewhere between the ink and paper.
