Photogravures are a process where photographs, or slides, or other such elements are used under a UV light to transfer an image onto a type of polymer plate. This is a similar process to a photograms on photopapers of the past.
There are various techniques and methods to approach in the process for the disired variations whether using the nature of sunlight or a special UV light indoors
My collection includes dolls to address abuse, Italian Intensive from a workshop in Italy, and an upcoming series focused on 35 mm film organically altered within the lab
This collection is from the past. The Rubber Dolly was one of my early dolls which I still have, of course. The other two dolls, aged and decomposing belong to my mother and the step father. They represent two sides of the coin in child abuse, both in their innocents as a child on their own, and a reminder that what ever transpired in life, they would grow into something different both by circumstance and by choice.
When considering a composition, I will create a photoshoot. I commonly limit the space or area for a shoot, and then proceed with 50-100 images, playing with both composition, settings, direction, and most importantly extreme lighting.
Within the images I search for elements of specific emotions in the still life that reflect concerns, conflicts, or emotions relevant to moment.
Once a photo is chosen, I rarly use more than one from the particular still life shoot.
